Writing my American heritage paper that is due in a little less than 10 hours.
first cut, so it's not that big of a deal that it makes a minimal amount of sense.
I took a quick bathroom break and started wondering what would happen if somehow my watch slipped off my wrist and fell into the toilet (with my luck, it could happen). the bathroom is a great place to think and here's why: it is quiet, you have the place to yourself, and (if you have food) you never have to leave. so i thought about my watch falling into the crapper and wondered a bit about whether i'd try and get it out real fast or just cut my losses and flush it. i'd probably get it out because it's a sweet watch, but then i'd never feel the same rubbing it on the back of someone's head when i want their attention.
This train of thought led me to thinking about why watches are waterproof up to X amount of depth underwater. it seems to be a standard by which watches are judged. oh, this one can only go down to 25 feet below water, but this one over here goes all the way down to 200 feet. who cares if the first one is diamond encrusted, i'm buying the other one because it's STRONGER. sure, scuba divers need watches to keep track of how much oxygen and crap they have in their tank, but i really think that the amount of people who go scuba diving on a regular basis versus the amount of people who buy watches (pretty much every classy man on the planet) is too disproportionate to make printing "safe up to X feet" requisite on every watch in the world. just watch the sun for crying out loud.
long story short, my watch didn't fall off my slender wrist into the toilet, but it was fun to think about.
Deep Vibe.
I'm also searching for a name for my podcast. open to suggestions that don't suck. currently thinking "Be that as it may: The life and times of a BYU Freshman" or possibly "A Strange man in an even Stranger land: Broadcasting not-so-live from Provo."
