Roomies, Round 2

So now that winter semester is in full swing (meaning that the add/drop deadline has passed so i'm stuck in the classes that i'm in), I'm ready to pass judgement on my new roommates.

Three of my roommates from last semester moved out. fortunately, they were the ones that Andrew, Kevin and I hated. a plan was initiated to prevent returned missionaries from moving into our apartment. dare i say we dodged a bullet, because 3 moved in on the floor right above us. The plan was to have Summers (from next door) move in with two of his friends so that we would know everybody in the apartment this semester. Summers lived with the cadet in jake's apartment last semester, but since the cadet moved out and summers didn't want to be lonely, he moved on over here. ish. Only one of his friends moved in with him, Matt, so we had a wild card roommate. Mark.

Here's a bit about them so when i reference them in the future you get who i'm talking about.

Summers is nothing extremely new to me, because he lived in jake's apartment last semester. He hails from Alpine, UT, but doesn't seem to be effected by "hey i'm from utah so i'm automatically a loser" syndrome. It's good. Last semester I didn't see much of him, because he works nights and had a girlfriend, but now it's kind of hard not to because he always needs to use the bathroom when i'm in the shower. I'm pretty sure he was born and bred a BYU cougar, so there's no need to convince him to come to basketball games and such. Summers is a poli Sci major, so this whole mess that's going on with the republican nomination has taken a new spin due to his analysis of it: "GOSH republicans have such a hard choice. either elect an amoral adulterer (gingrich) or a mormon (romney)." That's the gist. He definitely is a better roommate than the guy he replaced.

Matt is from texas. I don't think i really need to say anything else. still don't know him super well, but we get along fine. He makes food for everyone occasionally, which gives me reason some days to get my butt out of bed in the morning.

Mark is from Tennessee. He is what has been called a "fellow confederate," but merely in jest. He's quiet and usually keeps to himself, and i've never seen him consume anything but ramen. it's all good though. He's kevin's new roommate.

I'm just feeling right now that life is moving kind of slow, so hopefully it'll pick up soon. going to go see the BYU divine comedy people this weekend, so that should be fun. I ended up on an inner tube water polo team, and we made shirts tonight for our team, which still doesn't have a name. everybody put "I bleed 4 ______" and filled in the blank with whatever they wanted. (ron swanson, jimmer, BYU, BYU women's soccer, etc.).

I was thinking about asking chicks out this afternoon (for no particular reason. like really), and had an interesting thought. At BYU, pretty much everyone is connected to everybody else.before asking a girl out, you should definitely make sure you're not related to her. It's never happened to me before, but with my luck, it might sooner or later. So i plan to make use of one of the world's largest genealogical libraries and check everyone's family trees before we hang out socially. just something good to know. one of the biggest insults of my life happened when i skyped my mother 2 weeks ago and she kept alluding to me having a girlfriend. Come on mother. I really wish i could write a really sexist blog about not sacrificing my independence and slowing down for anyone, but i think that many of my readers would view that unfavorably, so it'll all remain in my head.
